Channels and OTAs

Selling the same room twice is expensive — and avoidable.

While the calendar lives in a spreadsheet and every OTA lives in its own tab, double-selling is a matter of time. The cost is not just the refund: it is the review that stays up.

You will recognise at least one of these

  • One person books over WhatsApp while another books through the OTA — and nobody updated the calendar in between.

  • Blocking a date is manual work repeated in every channel, and forgetting one is enough.

  • The OTA commission is the price of having someone fill your calendar, even on the dates that would have filled themselves.

What it looks like on Pousari

  1. 1

One calendar, with real availability. Every sale — direct, OTA or WhatsApp — draws down from the same place.

  2. 2

Direct booking on your own site, with instant payment. What comes in here pays commission to nobody.

  3. 3

If you already use Cloudbeds, the sync keeps both sides telling the same story instead of two truths.

We run our own inn on this. Paradise Ranch operates on Pousari every day — bookings, rates, guest registration and the books.

The questions that always come up

Do I have to drop the OTAs?
No, and you should not. They bring new guests. What changes is that the dates which fill themselves stop paying commission.
What about bookings I already have?
If they are in Cloudbeds, the sync brings them. If they are in a spreadsheet, you can start from the period ahead and migrate as you go.
How long does setup take?
Entering rooms and rates is the longest part, and it is one afternoon. The first-days checklist shows what is left.

One calendar. That is what ends double-selling.
